Abschnittsübersicht

  • Classroom activities demonstrate how the concepts can be implemented in EFL teaching.

    • Throughout this module, you have explored key concepts such as plurilingualism, mediation, translanguaging, and language awareness.

The following examples illustrate how these ideas can be translated into everyday EFL teaching. Rather than introducing entirely new units or projects, plurilingual approaches often involve small adjustments to familiar classroom activities that create opportunities for learners to draw on their linguistic repertoires.

As you explore the examples, consider how each activity supports (plurilingual) language learning, participation, and identity. Think about how the activities might be adapted for different learners, age groups, and classroom contexts. Which activity could be challenging to implement?

      Reflect for yourself

      Looking across the activities:

      • Which activity do you find most convincing?

      • Which activity would be most challenging to implement?

      • Which plurilingual concepts appeared most frequently?

      • How might these activities need to be adapted for different learners, age groups, or classroom contexts?

      • Which activity would you be most likely to use in your future teaching? Why?

      • How do you deal with the fact that you don’t speak all the languages spoken by your learners?

In the next chapter, you will design your own short plurilingual classroom activity and explain the decisions behind your design.
